At ULTA, we strive for transparency. Here, you can find what we are looking for in our applicants. Our team will make admissions decisions based on these criteria.

To be eligible to participate in the program, you must:

• Be a citizen of Ukraine. You will be required to provide proof of citizenship, such as your passport or ID card.
• Be enrolled as a student in 9th or 10th grade of a Ukrainian high school at the time of application (May 2023) and be at most 17 years of age as of September 1, 2023.
• Have a valid International Ukrainian Passport. In 2023, our program will take place outside of Ukraine.
• If you are accepted, commit to fully participate in the program for both summer camps (two weeks, in person in August), as well as in the yearlong (~10 hours per week, online).

Technical requirements:

• English language. To participate in the program, must be able to communicate effectively with our instructors from MIT. We require B1 English level, at the absolute minimum. Ideal candidates will have a level of B2 or higher. We will assess your English skills from your short responses and a 30 minute interview (if you are selected for the interview round). Please refer to the IELTS standards for B1 level.
• Strong academic performance. Our program is intense, and will require you to work hard. We will assess your academics holistically, based on your academic transcripts and achievements.

Ideal candidates will:

• Demonstrate a strong desire to contribute to the rebuilding of Ukraine and to make a positive impact on their community. Be determined to make a meaningful impact with their life.
• Show leadership, either through extracurricular activities, community involvement, or other experiences.
• Be active outside school. Display an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for innovation. Love to encounter problems and think them through to find solutions.
• Demonstrate ability to work hard, and be open-minded about developing in new areas.

Our applicants can show their abilities in various ways, for example, through organizing or coordinating events for their school or local communities, volunteering in various organizations and projects, actively participating in public initiatives and events, participating in competitions, olympiads, and other projects from various fields, creating their own content online, launching and developing their own projects or business ideas, continuous self-improvement and development of personal skills, and so on.

We organize our admissions process in three stages:

Stage 1: Initial Application (the month of May)

• The form for submitting the initial applications will open on May 1, 2023, 12:00AM Kyiv time.
• Prospective applicants should submit their applications by May 31, 2023, 11:59PM Kyiv time. For more information about this step, please see the “Application Form” tab.

Stage 2: Interviews (throughout June)

• Selected candidates (30-50 students) will be invited for a short online interview with our team (30 minutes), conducted in English. This is a chance for us to get to know you better, and for you to ask us questions about the program.
• At this step, we will also assess your English proficiency.

Stage 3: Decisions (no later than June 30th)

• If we have secured a spot in our program, you will receive an invitation to participate. You will have a week to accept the invitation.
• We will inform you if you’ve been waitlisted. We will contact you immediately if a spot becomes available.
• After the final decisions have been made, all applicants will be notified via email. The names of finalists will be posted on the website.

Для подачі заявки на участь у проєкті ULTA 2023-2024 необхідно заповнити форму, яка складається з п’яти обов'язкових секцій та двох необов’язкових.

Секції 1-2 “Розкажіть про себе”, “Освіта та результати стандартизованих тестів” мають на меті зібрати:

• Вашу загальну біографічну інформацію;
• контакти, за допомогою яких ми зможемо зв'язатися з Вами у процесі відбору;
• інформацію про Вашу освіту та будь-які стандартизовані тести, які Ви коли-небудь здавали.

Секції 3-4 “Академічні та неакадемічні досягнення”, “Захоплення і діяльність” дають можливість:

• розказати про Ваші академічні досягнення — ті, які пов’язані зі школою, навчанням чи наукою (наприклад, участь у олімпіадах, написання роботи МАН тощо);
• розказати про Ваші неакадемічні досягнення — ті, які не пов’язані з навчанням (наприклад, спортивні, музичні чи театральні успіхи тощо);
• розказати про те, як Ви проводите вільний від уроків час (наприклад, участь у громадських організаціях, волонтерство тощо).

Секція 5 “Short Responses” — одна з найважливіших секцій, оскільки дає можливість:

• Вам — проявити себе через написання чотирьох есе на різні теми. Це можливість розповісти про себе щось особливе, чого не відобразити в інших розділах;
• нашій команді — оцінити Ваш рівень володіння англійською мовою.

Секції "Портфоліо або посилання на Ваші роботи або відео" та “Додаткова інформація” не є обов’язковими для заповнення, але тут Ви можете поділитися з нами тим, про що не вдалося розказати у попередніх секціях. Тут також можна вказати посилання на свою сторінку-портфоліо. Це може бути інстаграм-сторінка з виставкою робіт, або арт-портфоліо, або Github-профіль з проєктами, або YouTube-відео з Вашою участю, або Google Slides-презентація Вашого проєкту, Google Drive-папка з роботами або ресурсами тощо. Ви не зменшуєте свої шанси потрапити у проєкт, якщо залишите ці секції без відповіді.
